Andrew Peel has won the election for Vice President Societies and Activity (VPSA) of Edinburgh University Students Association (EUSA) with 1456 votes.  He received 50.83% of the vote.

As the only candidate to achieve quota for the election, Peel won without the need for second preferences.

In his victory speech, Peel said:  “I don’t even know what to say.  I just want to say a massive massive thank you to my campaign team.  I decided to run three weeks ago and I could not imagine this.  I would not have been able to do it without you.  Thank you.”

In his election, Peel called for more focus on employability, improving EUSA’s digital presence, and building on the University’s welfare record.

He suggested launching a student-led online TV station, promoting the Edinburgh award, and holding a competition to develop a EUSA smartphone app.

Peel additionally said he would work to improve online banking for societies, the EUSA website, and to introduce an online ticketing system for EUSA events.

Peel further called for more accessible and anonymous counselling spaces, better security in the Meadows, and more student kitchens on campus.
