European Youth Parliament meets in Kosovo for the first time
News

The first conference of the European Youth Parliament (EYP) Initiative in Kosovo is taking place this week in Prishtina.

The session, convening between 9 and 12 February, will be the first time that youth delegates of EU states have met in the region.

With EU membership a possibility, the EYP is launching an initiative to elect youth representatives for Kosovo.

Committees and discussion panels will form to debate issues of international importance, with the strongest performing Kosovan candidates will participate in the EYP’s international forum over the summer.

The European Youth Parliament has thirty-five branches across Europe, encouraging young people to debate issues of importance to Europe. The strongest candidates are selected to represent their country at international EYP sessions.

President of this week’s convention, Dominik Drasnar, said, ‘This is both a fantastic opportunity for Kosovo and a historic moment for the EYP.’

The Student will have continuing coverage of the conference.
