Not to be missed: RAG WEEK

ByJulie Zaugg

Feb 3, 2015

The group Edinburgh RAG (Raising and Giving) is once again organising a fundraising campaign from the 2nd to the 8th of February, offering many events throughout the week. You might have heard of their past hitchhiking events: Race2Paris or Race2Amsterdam. Please keep in mind that registration for the Race2Prague 2015 is currently open.

In this first week of February there are a wide variety of events taking place, from Karaoke to a Football tournament, so as to suit anyone’s fancy. All proceeds from the events will be destined for different charities and associations.

The Charity Fun Fair & Bake Sale, The Barnardo’s Clothes Swap, and  a screening of The Grand Budapest Hotel on Monday were enjoyed by all.  On Tuesday,  you’ll have the choice between four great events: a Ceilidh, a Live Music & DJ Night, a night of Stand-up Comedy with Grassroots and a Karaoke Night.

J.K. Rowling lovers will be thrilled on Thursday by the Harry Potter Pub Quiz whilst others will be able to take part in the Poker Tournament at the Casino Night. Finally, on Friday night there will be a MedRAG Cabaret Show which is a battle of societies for the prize of £150.

On Saturday, Flush Haggis RAG Raiders will be hitting the streets of Edinburgh for the Meningitis Research Foundation. The day after, take a friend to the Pollock Halls 3-Legged Race; be the fastest or best dressed and grab a prize! If you are so inclined, join the Girls Football Tournament – boys are welcome too and can be referees or cheerleaders. And after all that, the last event of this week will be the Rwanda Pub Quiz.

If you would like to obtain more information about any of these events, have a look at the ‘The University of Edinburgh: RAG Week 2015’ Facebook page.
